At the sitting held on September 10, 2018, the City Council of the City of Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue adopted by-law number 806 to prohibit the distribution of certain shopping bags in businesses throughout its territory. The purpose of this measure is to encourage a change in behavior with respect to the use of this type of bag and thus reduce the environmental impact.
When new Regulation 806 takes effect, on January 1, 2018, it will no longer be allowed to distribute certain shopping bags made of conventional, oxo-degradable or biodegradable plastic in retail businesses located on the territory of the City of Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue.
Awareness Campaign "I'm doing my part"
In the coming months, the City will implement an information and awareness campaign on the theme "I'm doing my part". This will allow citizens and businesses to adapt to the new measure in a progressive way. Starting today, we invite you to shop with a reusable bag!
