New signs at each entrance to the promenade regarding by-laws 770 and 812

October 15th 2024
New signs at each entrance to the promenade regarding by-laws 770 and 812

In response to comments received this summer about the visibility of the signs at the entrances to the promenade, we’ve changed them to make them more visible. As you walk along, you’ll notice the new signs at each entrance to the promenade, reminding you of the following 2 rules:

  • Dogs, even on a leash, are forbidden on the promenade;
  • Cyclists must dismount on the boardwalk.

For your dog’s walk, we suggest a visit to the city’s dog park, located at the intersection of Saint-Pierre and Sainte-Élisabeth streets. There’s also a dog park on the north side, accessible via Robillard Park. These parks are accessible at all times, and dogs can run off-leash inside.

By-law 770 - Nuisances and safety, Article 50 Circulation of motorcycles, mopeds and bicycles

  • Where required by signage, cyclists must dismount and walk alongside their bicycles.
  • Fine for offenders: $100 + $56 costs

By-law 812 - Dogs, Article 22 Public areas

  • The presence of dogs in city parks and on Promenade du Canal is prohibited at all times.
  • Fine for offenders: $200 + $82 in fees.
