    Our city's official flowers: a tale of two roses 


    Come to Sainte-Anne and Smell the Roses!!

    The City of Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue now has not just one, but two signature flowers as emblems.

    Following a request from the Mayor, Paola Hawa, the Sainte-Anne en fleurs contest Committee researched the possibilities and now the City has chosen and approved two kinds of roses as emblems; the rosebush “Blanc Double de Coubert” and “Campfire”..

    Blanc Double de Coubert

    The rose "Blanc Double de Coubert" is already a widespread flower in our territory. You will have the chance to notice it especially near Rue Sainte-Anne and elsewhere in the City’s flowerbeds.

    In the spring and summer of 2015, horticulture students at McGill University on Macdonald Campus, having already taken hardwood cuttings of our existing rose bushes, will cultivate more in order to sell plants to residents at a very reasonable price, making this floral emblem more visible.

    Campfire

    The « Campfire »is a new Canadian rose developed by Agriculture ad Agri-Food Canada in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu and at Morden in Manitoba. Named in honor of the masterpiece painting of the same name by Canadian artist Tom Thomson, this rose, in bright and harmonious colors, symbolizes the plurality and the beauty of our local culture.

    You will see this flower in our flowerbeds in the spring and you will become increasingly aware of this flower in subsequent years.
