    Snow removal operations

Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue's public works department is responsible for organizing and carrying out snow removal operations.
During snow-loading operations, the Public Works department may install temporary “no parking” signs on a given street the day before crews are due to arrive. To facilitate the work and prevent your car from being moved, please follow the instructions.

For everyone's safety, never dump snow near or on a hydrant. Keep a 1.5 m (5 ft.) radius around the hydrant clear at all times.

    INFO-NEIGE

At the Council meeting of October 15, 2019, the Municipal Council decided to make permanent the pilot project aimed at authorizing overnight parking when weather conditions permit. This measure aims to make life easier for citizens when conditions do not require intervention.

The decision whether or not to lift the ban depends on weather conditions and the snow removal operations planned by the Public Works Department.

It is the responsibility of all vehicle owners to check daily updates before parking during the period in question. If the ban is not lifted, the current by-law will be applied and offenders will be subject to the fines stipulated in parking by-law 769.

    Night parking regulations

From December 1 to March 31, it is strictly forbidden to park a road vehicle on the public highway:

    • between 1 a.m. and 6 a.m. in the North sector
    • between 1 a.m. and 7 a.m. in the South sector

This ban also applies to holders of parking stickers.

During this period, you may park your vehicle in all authorized parking lots during the permitted hours (see signage). Notwithstanding the above, no vehicle may be parked in the commercial axis between 4 a.m. and 7 a.m. and for a period of more than 48 hours at the same location.

Modification to winter parking by-law - north sector

New this year - Modification to article 26 of by-law 769

Winter parking from 6 a.m. to 1 a.m. on streets north of Autoroute Félix-Leclerc (40), between December 1 and March 31 of each year, will be structured as follows:
    a) On the even-address side of the streets (always respecting on-site signage), parking will be authorized on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, and prohibited on other days of the week;
    b) On the odd-numbered side of the street (always respecting the signage on site), parking will be authorized on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, and prohibited on other days of the week.

    When is overnight parking permitted?

If no snow removal operations are in progress or planned for the night (whether to remove or move snow, de-ice streets or spread abrasives or ice melters), parking is authorized by notice from the City.

In the absence of a notice, overnight parking is still prohibited on all Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue streets to ensure efficient snow removal. Snow removal operations remain a priority over overnight parking.

How will the notice of authorization be transmitted?

Every day, starting at 4 p.m., motorists can find out whether or not on-street parking is permitted as of 1 a.m. the following night by consulting the notice in one of the following two ways:

    • INFO-NEIGE telephone line: 514 457-1001
    • INFO-NEIGE page

How will the city enforce the by-law?

Municipal patrol and SPVM officers are authorized to issue tickets to property owners who fail to comply with the by-law.

We ask all residents and visitors to cooperate during or after a snowfall, even during the day. As long as snow clearing is not completed, avoid parking your vehicle on the street as much as possible, and use free parking lots instead. In this way, you'll help to facilitate snow removal operations and improve their quality!

    Extreme cold

    • In winter, we all need to adopt safe behaviors to protect our health. Here are a few tips to help you stay safe and enjoy the season:
    • Keep your home's ambient temperature at least 19°C.
    • Caulk doors and windows to prevent cold air infiltration.
    • If you use a wood-burning stove or auxiliary heating system, make sure the room is well ventilated.
    • Dress in layers.
    • Take particular care to cover your head, nose, mouth, neck, hands and feet.
    • If you're going to be outdoors for a long time, take respite breaks in warm, wind-free places.

For more information, visit our special section on the subject.

    Reminders

    Waste collection

In the event of a snowstorm, please monitor our newsletters and social media to find out if collections will take place as scheduled. They may be postponed to allow for faster snow removal.

We remind you that your bins must be placed at the curb before 7 a.m. on collection day, with the wheels facing your residence. Please ensure that the bins are visible and positioned 1 m (3 ft.) from the edge of the street or sidewalk to avoid obstructing traffic or snow removal.

    Safety instructions

It is strictly forbidden to push, throw or deposit snow or ice from your property or lot onto the public domain. Be sure to notify your contractor. Offenders will be fined.
Also, keep an eye on the condition of your roofs so that no accumulation of snow, ice or icicles can break off and cause an accident.

For safety reasons, don't let children play on the side of the road. They could slip on the pavement while playing. Keep an eye on this type of playground at all times during the winter.
