Since 1911, the delivery of high-quality healthcare has been the cornerstone of the NOVA (formerly VON) nurses’ mandate. At NOVA West Island, experienced, caring, and dedicated professional staff and volunteers work together to improve the quality of life for vulnerable adults, youth and families. The financial support from individuals, foundations (including the very successful Thrift Shops for NOVA), corporations, municipalities, community groups and Fundraising activities allows us to bridge gaps in the public healthcare system by offering a variety of programs and services at little or no cost. These include: In-home cancer, ALS and palliative nursing care; Bereavement Support for adults and children; Adult Day Centers for seniors with cognitive impairments and Home Support Services.

In 1998, inspired by the "charity thrift shops" in England, a West Island resident along with a group of volunteers opened a Thrift Shop called “Le Coin des Trouvailles” on the main street of Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue. In 2004, the Ste-Anne Volunteer Health Support Foundation was created and it has since received and sold donations of merchandise. The funds raised for NOVA West Island were transformed into professional healthcare for the vulnerable people in our community.

Le Support of the Quebec Society for Intellectual Disabilities, collects used clothing and household objects. 100% of the profits go to the Quebec Society of Intellectual Disabilities. We offer this service for free. So it’s a simple way to reduce the amount of garbage that ends up in landfills when they can be upgraded.

The Richelieu Club of Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue has been very involved in the community since it was founded in 1953, with helping children and youth as its primary mission. The Club conducts a number of fundraising events throughout the year to give back to members of the community in need. For example, members organize roadblocks, dinner parties and various popular events.

We support a myriad of community organizations such as food banks, women’s shelters, and school breakfast programmes.
