Floods of August 9, 2024 - Public Information Session 
Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue residents affected by record rainfall on August 9 were invited to a public information session. The purpose of the meeting was to provide an update on the situation and discuss the various avenues for future action. The meeting was followed by a question and answer period.
Since the very first hours of this crisis, City teams have been fully mobilized to support and help those affected. On the ground, the public works team has worked tirelessly to ensure the integrity of public infrastructures, clean up streets and increase the frequency of bulky goods collections to facilitate the removal of damaged goods.
In the face of these unprecedented floods, the City of Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue would like to express its deepest solidarity with all those affected. The safety and well-being of every citizen is a priority for the city.

Contact your insurance company
If you have insurance, contact them to review the damage and what can be done.
If your insurance company offers to provide you with a waste container, we ask you to accept their offer as this will help speed up our clean-up operations.
If you don't have insurance, contact cleaning companies who will guide you through the process.
Collections of damaged bulky items
We've organized three (3) special collections to help you get rid of large, damaged items. These collections will take place :
- Wednesday, August 14, 2024 starting at 7 a.m;
- Friday, August 16, 2024 starting at 7 a.m;
- Saturday, August 17, 2024 starting at 7 a.m.
In addition to the pickup scheduled for this Saturday, we'll be mobilizing 2 public works crews to meet the high demand and clear the city of damaged bulky items.
Here's what to expect this weekend:
- Friday, August 16:
- 1 truck will continue collection in the north sector.
- Saturday, August 17:
- 2 trucks will continue collection in the north sector;
- Rental of more or less 10 trucks to start collection in the south sector and continue in the north sector by our public works crews;
- Rental of 2 containers at the paddock to deal with unforeseen circumstances and case-by-case requests both on Saturday and next week by our teams.
- Monday, August 19:
- The collection of damaged bulky items will continue in the north sector by the public works team. It will begin around 7:30 a.m. Thereafter, we will review the situation according to residents' needs. Stay tuned for more information.
- Tuesday August 20:
- Finalization of the first bulky goods collection round by our public works crew.
- Wednesday, August 21:
- Second round of residential collection by our public works crew.
- Thursday, August 22 and following days (end date undetermined at present):
- Case-by-case management of bulky waste collection by our public works crew via Voilà!*
*In order to counter this demand, we will have containers on hand at the paddock.
It is important to respect the following points:
- Be sure to contact your insurance company before disposing of damaged items;
- Make sure that these items do not block sidewalks when deposited outside your home;
Due to exceptionally high demand and the large number of damaged items, the collection company will be able to make only one collection per residence.
We ask residents to be courteous to each other by taking out only those items that have been damaged by the flood. This will allow the collection company to efficiently pick up all damaged items throughout the city.
People affected by flooding may experience unusual physical, emotional and behavioral reactions. Pay attention to your own reactions and those of your loved ones. Don't hesitate to ask for help from Info-Social, by dialing 811, option 2.
The Ministère de la Sécurité publique du Québec is offering financial assistance to homes affected by recent river overflows.

Chalet Peter-Williamson
The Peter-Williamson chalet was damaged by the storm that hit over the weekend. Our team is currently working on refurbishing it to welcome back our residents.
In the meantime, the chalet will be closed indefinitely. This means that :
- All activities until the end of August will be moved to the Harpell center.
- No room rentals will be available.
- The access card will not be operational.
We will inform you when it reopens.
