Online movie | Pachamama: Le trésor sacré (In French)

Tuesday, March 2

Watch the movie Pachamama: Le trésor sacré in the comfort of your home! Please note that the movie is available in French only.

Movie description:
Tepulpaï and Naïra, two children of the Andes Cordillera, set off in pursuit of the Pachamama, the protective totem of their village, confiscated by the Incas. Their quest will lead them to Cuzco, the royal capital besieged by the conquistadors.

Clientele
: Ages 5 to 12
Registration: Registration required at the Library before Monday March 1st, at 514-457-1940.

Instructions:  A web link will be emailed to registered participants on March 2, before 10 a.m. This link will be active for 24 hrs. You will be able to watch the film in the comfort of your home, at the time of the day that suits you. The duration of the film is 72 minutes.

 

Virtual Event | Mad Science

Wednesday, March 3 

Learn how to make your own bouncy ball and slime, and discover an amazing chemical reaction !


Event description:
This virtual activity is organised by Mad Science, an organization whose mission is to introduce children to the fascinating world of science.

During this activity, the animators will introduce the children to nitrocellulose and make a demonstration of an amazing science experiment on chemioluminescence reaction - there will even be indoor fireworks! And of course, children will make their very own super ball and slime to play with at home.

(A kit to do the experiments is provided. See details below.)



Clientele:  Ages 5 to 12
Schedule:  Wednesday, March 3, from 1 pm to 2 pm.
Registration: Registration required at the Library before Monday March 1st, at 514-457-1940.

Instructions: A web link to assist to the event via Zoom videoconference will be sent by email to participants after registration. Participants must also come and get their experiment kit at the library between March 1 and 3. Number of kits available is limited. Register quickly!

 

Agro-Passion | Grow your own microgreens !

From Monday, March 1st to Friday, March 5

Grow your own microgreens at home during spring break!


Activity description:
Get the kids to experience growing microgreens at home with a starter kit including everything you'll need. These tasty little plants picked after only 5 to 15 days of growth will amaze the whole family.

Pick up the starter kits at the library, available from March 1st. At this point, you will have everything in hand to enjoy a great gardening and tasting experience in the middle of winter!

Clientele: Ages 4 to 12 years (accompaniment of an adult suggested for the youngest)
Schedule: March 1 to 5
Registration: Registration required at the library before Monday, March 1st at 514 457-1940 to ensure you get a starter kit. *Spontaneous collection of a kit will be accepted while stocks last.

Instructions: Registered participants should come to the library to pick up their gardening kit. This includes: a pot to decorate, seeds (radish or sweet pea), potting soil and an explanatory sheet.
