Aqueduct system flushing
Category : Municipal newsEvery year, as part of its water system maintenance program, the City of Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue carries out a one-way flushing of water pipes throughout its territory. This operation begins in September and continues until mid-October.
In all, over 30 km of pipes are cleaned each year. The main purpose of the operation is to remove limescale from the water pipes to ensure the purity and pressure of the drinking water. At the same time, municipal employees are able to check the quality of infrastructure such as street valves and fire hydrants.
Aqueduct flushing schedule
Northern district
From Monday, September 25 to Monday, October 2, Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. for the entire district north of Highway 40.
Southern district
From Wednesday, October 4 to Wednesday, October 18, Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., for the entire district south of Highway 40.
Please note that the work may cause a slight drop in water pressure, as well as rusty (reddish) discoloration of the water. If your water is brown, please let the cold tap water run until the water is colorless again. We also recommend doing your laundry in the evening or on weekends to avoid staining your clothes.
